" Metformin is the most popular anti-diabetic drug in the United States and one of the most prescribed drugs in the country overall, with more than 40 million prescriptions filled in 2008 for generic metformin alone.[5] When prescribed appropriately, metformin causes few adverse effects—the most common is gastrointestinal upset—and, unlike many other anti-diabetic drugs, does not cause hypoglycemia if used alone. It also helps reduce LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and may aid weight loss. As of 2009[update], metformin is one of only two oral anti-diabetics in the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines (the other being glibenclamid

" I also asked her this when she knocked another NEW poster while the poster was feeling wonderful at finally getting her Sugar under control and losing weight
Anyone with Diabetes Knows that having that experience is one of Really GREAT Joy

However Ms Sockfuzz replied telling her how the medications she was on would make her sick

That is when I asked her the same Question and she never replied
her profile states that she is NOT she claims to be Pre Diabetic.
She controls that with diet and exercise
The thing is she has no experience with this disease Nor is she aware of the feelings we feel when we can not eat what we want or what we have eaten for years or feelings about how your sugar is in the 300's constantly and FINALLY with the support of Great friends (thank you Dealing With Diabetes Group) you finally get those numbers in the 120 range
that feeling is PURE JOY!
These are things Ms Sockfuzz will not know will not be able to share and why this site continues to allow her to pass wrong info and continually bringing down the feelings of people who actually deal with this disease is beyond me

Her continued posts to diabetics who MUST take medications because just eating and exercise while it may work for someone who is NOT yet diabetic will NOT work for those who are. So scaring the crap out of them with all these posts about the side effects and dangers is just wrong
She may scare the wrong person who may not yet have learned a lot about this disease and that person may stop taking the meds and try it Socks way and end up seriously sick.
Sockfuzz can not accept that though She just wants to be the moderator owner
i do not get why she does not start her own PRE diabetic group She could share a lot of info with those who are pre diabetic like herself but she is Dangerous to those who actually have it "

" Yes I am diabetic.
I come from a family of diabetics going back (diagnosed) to my great-grandfather - and probably further than that by the anecdotal evidence passed down in the family - so I have had a lot of my life dealing with both T2 and even relations with T1.

Let me ask you something.
Just because someone does not have a particular health problem but comes on DS to get some help and understanding for a friend or family member does that mean that you have to belittle them?

I have been a member of this group since I joined DS over two years ago but found that the majority of people on here had minds that were too closed to discuss options.

And please do not get me started on Metformin - it could have killed me. And one of the other so-called miracle drugs for T2 has left me with lifelong health problems.

You know guys I wonder why I bothered returning.
I am so glad that when I went to the fibro board to find out some help and information about that condition because a friend of mine (non DS member then or now) had it they did not treat me like this.

This is supposed a support site so why can't we just support each other? "

" Copy of reply to numerous posts...

Guys Please,

This group is so unlike any others I visit...
Day to day troubles need supporting, we all need a friendly group to wander into, have a giggle and be amoungst friends.
I fear my outbursts in previous posts have brewed up a storm here and thats not what I'm about. not at all....

Perhaps If Socks would consider starting a group for pre diabetics her followers can flit between both and let us repair what can be salvaged for this much needed group....

Just a suggestion...

This can be a happy place where we can support, comfort and care for without everything googled being chucked down our throats without any thought...

CL or no CL... use the ignore..I have and I can get on without the frustration...

I am diabetic, I have a lot to share through experience and living the life....
How sad it is I had to turn to GBS to try to control a disease that was and possibly is killing me everyday..

That said, I have no regrets.

Socks, Please do the decent thing and take your debates to a new group of your own for those that will appriciate your input. You will have a lot of followers I'm sure, and you would be welcome to promote YOUR group anytime...
You will become your own CL and can ban and delete post to your hearts content....

Please Socks, at least think about it...

enough said...

BUZZ xx "
