Hypertension medication

So, in addition to being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes , I have also been diagnosed with high blood pressure (systemic hypertension). I cut back on table salt, and have been exercising everyday, but my cardiologist still prescribed me medication. Twice. The first one interfered with my BS readings. So, we switched. I started the new one today. It made me crash on the bed and sleep for almost three hours - and now I have a HUGE headache. Gross. So, I will call her tomorrow (MD is a lady) and ask her if we can try something else. I just can't afford being sleepy in the afternoon, that's when I WORK!! (I am a translator and work at home). Darn medications.

" Gee....What medication did she put you on? I have been on Avapro and even patches, and didnt find any change. Was there any little change in your diet that you can think of? Sometimes we dont even realize a little change.. or excercise.
If not maybe it was too high a dose. I sure would get back to yur doc. You dont need high bs... none of us do! "

" Joanne and Donna, we tried first Diovan HCT (a combo of Valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide ), but it affected my BS. Then she switched to NATRILIX (Indapamide), with the described effects...sigh....she said there are MANY anti-hypertensive drugs and that we will find one that works for me...I do hope so....:-( "

" i was given ziac. It has a diuretic in it. It worked fine for a while and then my bp started creeping up when my thyroid got funky again. They added captopril to it and it seems fine. It doesn't mess with my bs either. One they tried me on first was lisinopril. That made me sick and I had a reaction to it. "

" I have never had a shred of problem with my HBP medecine. Lisinopril HCL has been fine since day 1 about 5 years ago and my blood pressure is normal. What raises hell with me is the cholesterol med-statins cause all kinds of problems for me. "
