" Have you spoken to your doc about an alternative? As you are getting chest pains I would for sure look for something else. I have no suggestions as I don't take anything for my diabetes right now (side effects to everything prescribed to date) and am managing it with diet and exercise (yuck, I don't "do" exercise in truth). I am sure that there ar others who can point you to some other drug to replace Avandia. But the main thing is to get off of it sooner rather than later. "

" I am taking Byetta which is an injection 2x a day, and is working great. Plus 5 mg of Glipizide at brkfst and dinner and 1000 mg of metformin.
I started the Byetta in June and the other meds were adjusted in July my blood is the best it has been in 5 years. A1c went from 7.3 to 6.9 in one month. I will be retested in September. "

" Your doctor can advise you better than we can. But there are lots of meds to try at this point. "
