What kind of medications is everyone taking ? As for myself I was taking ... Glucophage XL, Actos, Glucovance but I STOPPED taking the Glucophage XL and 3 months ago I STOPPED taking the Actos & I just got restested this week to see how I have done without the Actos over the last 3 months & I have gone from 5.5 - 5.3 in my A1C readings and I am TRILLED and the DOCTOR said to say GOOD BYE to it and I am HAPPY.
The best part is that I have started to LOOSE some of my extra weight that I gained back from the Actos ... so I am happy. And, so I'm just on the Glucovance 2x's day am -with breakfast & pm - with dinner !! So, what are you on ? Posted on 06/01/07, 07:06 am |

I'm taking metformin and actos. I'd love to get off the actos at least. I'm still losing weight, but I really have to watch what I eat and have to exercise. My numbers have been in the 80's to 110 or so lately and 80's are too low for me. I go back for my A1C in July and hope I can go off some meds. Congrats LadyBear! Anytime we can get off medication, that's great in my book!

Ladybear,
I have been a diabetic since 1991 and took no meds until 2002 January. Started with Actos, didn't work for me, then went to Metformin it was increased to 500mg 2x but I still didn't get the results I needed. I asked her to let me try Glipizde started with 5mg morning then added morning and evening. Everything was working until the my doctor put me on Symvastatin (Zocar). This year he increase the Glipzide to 10 mg am/pm. I wanted to try Byetta. Well needless to say I saw an Endcorinoglist on 6/1/07 and guess what he put me on Byetta. ( I didn't ask for it) And he reduced the Glipizide to 10mg mornings only. I started today and so far am please with the results I haven't had a postmeal glucose of 106 in years. I just had minor nauesa in the morning. A great side affect is weight loss hope I see it. Metformin keeps it on too.
