I just started Gilmepiride on this past Saturday. I've been able to bring my A1C down since December from 9% to 6.7% with diet and exercise. Just wondering if anyone else is taking this drug & what the waiting period is for results. I've only been started on 1mg once a day since my numbers aren't outrageous. I'm still learning what I can and can't well as far as my diet. I actually got excited my second day on the meds because the numbers really looked good. For example, Sunday morning I ate a breakfast that I've eated so many times before, which adds up to 32 carbs (normally this breakfast would bring my sugar up to 185 or so). Sunday morning 2 hours after eating, it was only 127 so I thought that i was seeing some results. Well, I had that same breakfast this morning and got a 194 reading.

HELP! I'm a newbie, but I tend to get so frustrated when my numbers jump & I can't seem to figure out why.

Thanks for listening!

i was just told to take my meds the same time a day.. eat around the same time of day.. portion control and remember.. carbs and sugars.. are NOT ur friend!! "

" That's what I love about this group. No lack of support. I don't have the weight issue, but my fasting numbers without meds was 120-170, that's why my dose is so low. When I first found out about being type 2, my fasting was 190-220. You did great to bring it down so much in a month! I guess I'm just impatient for my meds to start working. I'm only on day 4. I learn something new about myself every day. (some of which suck!). Thanks again! "
