I am A type 2 diabetic today when I went to the doctors he says these two things my result of last weeks labs from diabetes
1) Diabetes W/ Renal Manifestation Type11..wich means I had too much protiens and some blood in urine The condition wherein urine contains a huge amount of protein is medically referred to as proteinuria. Usually, proteins stay on in the blood as it passes through the kidneys for waste matter filtration. This is because the kindey filters, also known as glomeruli are designed big enough to filter off the waste matter in the blood.Your kidneys filter waste products from your blood while retaining components your body needs — including proteins. However, some diseases and conditions can allow proteins to pass through the filters of your kidneys, causing protein in urine. 2) Neuralgia Neuritis & Radiculititis; which is also due to Diabetes Neuropathy is inflammation or degeneration of the nerves outside the brain or spinal cord (peripheral nerves). The peripheral nerves are responsible for both sensation and movement; therefore, damage to these nerves may result in pain, changes in sensation, or loss of motion (weakness or paralysis) Neuritis is a term used loosely to describe symptoms of pain or numbness without nerve degeneration or objective signs of nerve dysfunction. Radiculitis is a nonspecific term used loosely to describe pain or numbness in the distribution of a single spinal nerve root, but without objective signs of neurologic dysfunction. Radiculitis is thought to occur from inflammation of nerve roots found within the lowest portion of nerves within the spine. He is sending me to specialist for further studies is there medications to help this he did not prescibe anything but more lab test Posted on 06/25/12, 09:38 pm |

There are meds to help control the diabetes which will hopefully in turn help the symptoms you are having. As for the proteinuria, you need to watch how much protein yopu are ingesting and you should be drinking at least 8 8oz glasses of water a day.
Your best bet is to go on and see the specialist (an endocrinologist?) and your doctor is probably counting on the specialist to prescribe any meds you need.

Yeah, I've loved Lucille Ball since I was a little girl.
Is the Glucophage keeping your blood sugar under control? Not really sure if there are specific drugs to help with the numbness. Someone else here may know and a neurologist will definitely know. The urologist can help you with the proteinuria. Up the amount of water you drink, but I wouldn't do anything else until you've seen these other doctors. Let us know what you find out. There are lots of caring people here! Good luck.

diabetes can cause kidney problems since the sugar is running thru all the organs of course via the blood stream. Lisinopril, which is a blood pressure med tends to also protect the kidneys, so it might be possible you will be placed on that. the neuropathy also because of the diabetes but it can be controlled once the numbers get under control.. Mine in my feet is not near as bad as it use to be 15 years ago and has not advanced any further...
Ask all the questions of your doctor, write them down if need be and the advice of drinking lots of water will help flush out the kidneys
