Hey everyone, I just started taking this. I am on 10 mg a day. So far no strange side affects. Just started yesterday so its still kind of too early to tell how its going to affect my sugars in the long run. Anyone have any advise or any knowledge about this medication? I am not taking it with anything else, just the Glipizide.

Thanks in advance.

" Aravel,

Hi!

I've been on Glipizide since March 2006 and Glipizide is the only medicine I take. It helps a lot. One day I plan on trying a different medicine, though because I'd like to have kids one day. Glipizide is not good for women who want to have children. This shouldn't be a problem for you.

There are several good diabetic email newsletters that give more info. Have you found WEBMD?

Take care, "

" I have taken glypzide for years. It can cause hypogylcemia as it causes pancreas to produce more insulin. Be careful about when you takeit and keep a good check on your blood sugars. Keep a log of what it runs. GOOD LUCK "

" I agree with gumply1
I take glipizide with metformin and have gone hypo several times. Keep some hard tack candy available if this happens or, reg soda pop for that quick fix.
Just keep the meter handy.
