When my blood sugar was high before I was diagnosed I had no appetite. Now that I'm on metformin and my sugars are down I'm hungry all the time!! Has anyone else had increased appetite with metformin?

" When I went on Metformin it decreased my appetite. My physician even told me it might help me to lose weight. So I'm a little stumped that you are having an increase. I'll be anxious to see what the others post. "

" We I was put on metformin in 2000 it decreased my appette for sweets. Before the medications I came home from work starved and sweets look the carvings away. After medformin I lost 55 lbs and am no longer hungry. I to eat 6 small meals a day and I think that helps not being hungry and also keeps my sugar in check.

" When I initially got on metformin, I lost a lot of weight and that is what my provider said that would happen. I was also watching what I was eating and was exercising. But after a year, I went back to my old high carbs eating habits and lost interest in exercising. Now I am back to where I am back up to 210 lbs and still on metformin. "

" I've been on Medformin and my appetite is no different from before I went on it. But I'm on Gliberide too, so that's why my appetite is the same. I inially lost some weight but I've since gained it back I think. I don't like getting weighed, don't have a scale because it leads to big problems for me. "
