" My first question would be "why does he want to put you on meds if your blood sugar is not that high"?

Secondly, according to the PDR, Glipizide is not supposed to be chewed, crushed or divided...so I am wondering why he would tell you to take only half a pill.

What are your readings, how long have you been diagnosed, what type of doctor are you seeing and what have you done to change your lifestyle before resorting to meds? "

" My readings are between 130- 175 usually.. she told me to take half a pill because the pill its self can cause a drop in low blood sugar.., I am only seeing a primary care doctor and i just try to balnce my diet and watch my carb intake. "

" I have been on Glipizide since they discovered my diabetes type 2 in 2006. It hasn't been working much lately and the pharmacist practioner who has been helping me manage my diabetes said that after 3 years that it doesn't work very good. He has me on insulin now and has been increasing the dosage. "
