I am still losing alot of weight. I have lost about 40 pounds in 3 months. I went from 210 to 173. I am 5'9''...I havent been at this weight since I was about 18. I am wondering, do I need to go back to the doctor early about this. I am taking 500 MG of Metformin 2 times daily. My glucose levels base line is around 95 and after I eat it goes back to baseline in about 2 hours. My question is..should I still be losing more weight. My wife thinks I am doing alot of exercise now and I am pretty strict about not eating alot of carbs now. But I am still concerned about my weight loss.

" Metformin aids in weight loss because your body is using insulin differently while on it. That is after all one of the reasons you are taking it.

Plus if you are incorporating healthier eating and exercise into your routine, that also is a contributing factor. As we all know, diabetes is influenced by obesity. So naturally when you lose weight, your BG is going to go down.

If you are experiencing a loss of appetite, fatigue, diarrhea or other abnormal symptoms, then yes definitely consult with your doctor. "

" Hi, the weight loss seems good to me, I only needed to loose about 20lb and was advised not to crash diet but keep my target at 2lb a week.

I am not taking any medication so my aim was to diet and exercise when I get to my ideal weight I guess the trick is to keep it there.

, From what I've read here if you are continuing on med's it going to be a bit of a juggling act to keep a stable weight

Although I have never had any real weight problems It seems the hardest thing in the world after losing weight to keep it off!

I have a very small appetite and don;t eat much high calorie food I swim use the gym and I am finding it a struggle to loose it , especially from the gut!

One big advantage is all the clothes I was about to throw out are now fitting me again.

Regards "

" since being on Byetta pen and coming out of hospital in July I have lost 5 stone most of which was fluid due to metformin not agreeing with me.
While Im pleased and want to shed more weight,it came as a bit of a shock to be honest.
Im due to see my diabetic consultant in november and want to lose more, just to show thw rude consultant I can do it more than anything else.
But just wish at times I could lose it more quickly. "
