Advice:
excersize after eating

View More Posts Ignore
Hi all, I was wondering how long you should wait after you eat to go for a regular walk? I noticed that after I excersize my sugar goes up. So, if I just ate should I go for a walk right away or does that do more damage than good? I know that any kind of excersize is good for all of us, but I want my sugar to go down not up.

Thanks!!!

" Some people experience a spike in BG while exercising. Although most drop. So see how you respond and then make a decision. :) "

" Normal blood sugars after a high carbohydrate breakfast eaten at 7:30 AM. The blue line is the average for the group. The brown lines show the range within which most readings fell (2 standard deviations). Bottom lines show Insulin and C-peptide levels at the same time.Graph is a screen shot from Dr. Christiansen's presentation

Take note of the top brown line these are the glucose levels experienced by some of the normal (non diabetic people) my wife is like this a spike and then everything goes back to baseline she is not considered diabetic From the graph I would say exercise at the 45 minute mark after the first bite.

If your trying to lose weight exercise first thing in the morning empty stomach from the graph low insulin levels and glucose is almost depleted from the liver you will go ketonic (fat being used as the energy source) follow socks advise use the meter to see your own reaction to these methods.

I have now determined to be in my case an error.

2 days ago I was doing an experiment and reached a BG of 198 I immediately started lifting weights and dropped to 131. "

" The first paragraph in reply #3 is a straight copy paste that's all the information that was offered no sample size etc.

Thought I should check 2 standard deviation I took statistical probability in college but remember nothing of it.

http://www.robertniles.com/stats/g...

Two standard deviations away from the mean (the red and green areas) account for roughly 95 percent of the people. And three standard deviations (the red, green and blue areas) account for about 99 percent of the people.

Now I remember this mean is the average If my interpretation is correct 2 standard deviation means 95% of the people are not on the blue line. So where are they the curve does not have to be bell shaped it can be skewed to the left to the fight etc my query is how many are experiencing 160mg/dl after a high carbohydrate meal for as we well know 140 is danger Will Robinson.

Ah well google query the www for metabolic syndrome.

Did you know that green tea is a sodium glucose transport inhibitor on the intestinal mucosa ( do not add milk) yes its true it inhibits glucose absorption if you can believe Chinese and Japanese research scientists as well as many renowned American researchers . If there's a buck to be made etc "

" No it means 95% of the people are within the lower and upper range limits set by the 2 brown lines I would think the blue line is average for the normal person.

I will have to check my wife more often sorry for flooding the board got a litttle carried away etc... "

" To resolve my inner contemplation if you are on the upper brown line you have reached the end of normal glucose the entire control group is below you and they have discarded 5% of the subjects to avoid skewing the results( they were either below or above) you are also in the last 2 or 3 percentiles (very few people are experiencing this you are most assuredly pre diabetic.

Check the wife, a difficult task she must be cajoled ( come on honey I want to compare myself to someone that doesn't have diabetes etc.... "
