Yesterday I had a low 2hrs after lunch, I had a meat sandwich and grapes which I think is fine, I have been off meds now for about a month and all has been good. I really do not understand what happened yesterday. It is really hot and humid here, someone told me it could be that but I was not feeling hot. I have done everything in my power to control this to the point that I am off meds and now I am so confused! Has anyone experienced this who is not on meds? Does anyone know what could have caused this? I find living with this illness so frustrating, just when you think everything is going good, you get all confused all over again.

Hi pink!
You didn't say how low your low was but if it was significant enough that you were showing symptoms and had to eat something fast, I would make an appt with the doctor asap. Since you used to be on meds and you went through all that weight loss...could it be your body could still be adjusting and this is something hormonal? Whatever it is, hypoglycemia is not to be taken lightly as I'm sure you know. Stay hydrated and cool and make sure the people around you are aware of your situation. Heat can creep up on you, especially if you're having fun (and I hope you are). -fm

Hi ForgotMath!
I did not check it because I had checked it before lunch and it was 7.0 which was high for me I went ahead and ate lunch and 2hrs later that happened, At was at my husbands work and all he had was table sugar and water so I through some sugar in water and down it went, he drove me home and I checked my bs and it was at 6.0 after I took the sugar, I know I should carry sugar around with me but my doctor told me it would be very unlikely to have a low while not on meds, frustrating isin't it! lol

Actually pinky, this is common with pre-diabetics. HYPOglycemia is actually a precursor to Diabetes. So keep an eye on it. Keep checking that BG regularly and eating healhty. You haven't done anything wrong. It's just the nature of the beast. :)

Thanks sockfuzz, Beast is the best way to describe it lol Just when I get off all meds and things are going good something happens to confuse me all over again. :) The bright side is that my work has paid off from a year ago, lost lots of weight and off meds, so can't complain to much lol

As far as I'm concerned, a low is good news, because A) you finally get to eat something and B) it's the highs that cause all the long-term health issues. Congratulations!

Thanks so much Cliff! It was a long hard battle but it is paying off and I feel so much better now than I did at the start and I have learned so much a long the way, like how to eat properly and get off my butt and do some excersise lol
