Simple Steps To Control Sugar Level

Before going any further, if you or friend has diabetes, he or she MUST get a testing meter to check sugar level. A diabetic who do not test his/her sugar is committing suicide, literally.
Diabetes is simply either: A. Your pancreas is NOT producing enzyme to absorb the food/glucose into the tissues to be used as energies. This is Type 1 – Diabetes Treatment: Use of Insulin, exercise and use watch diet (No sugar food and moderate fast food), drinking only 0 calorie soda/drinks. B. Your body/ tissues are refusing (resistance) to take in the glucose form from food, which is used for energy. In this case your pancreas is producing some insulin but your body tissues ignore it. Treatment: Doctor prescribes tablets (Januvia is one of the best), Exercise and watch diet (little or no sugar food), very low calorie soda, have enough sleep. If you cannot control your sugar and you have: A. TYPE -1, then - If you are over weight, you need to loose some weight - Walk , run or take exercise that will make you sweat for 30 – 60 minutes to absorb the glucose into your body tissues and burn it. - Ask Doctor if you can increase insulin intake. B. TYPE -2, then - Walk, run or take exercise for 30 to 45 minutes to sweat. You are removing the sugar from the blood stream when you sweat. Excessive sugar in blood will cause other organs to damage. - If the pills and exercise not working and sugar level not control, perhaps your pancreas is not producing enough insulin; ask doctor to add “LEVERMIR Flex Pen insulin” to treatment. It is Pre-filled insulin that comes 4 in one pack. Easy to use and carry. Some doctors will say you don’t need it or try to discourage you. DO NOT be fooled. Insulin is the most safe and fastest blood control treatment with no side effect. Unlike the pills, it comes from pigs and other animals that digest foods and glucose fast. You want to live your life and not worry everyday about sugar level forever. You need whatever works. One side effect of the pills is “Lost Sexual Appetite” or Erectile Dysfunction. These are on longer major issues because there’re now male and female Viagra or other pills. See your doctor or check sites like http://www.allbrandgeneric.com to read more on these drugs. Please forward to friends or groups to help safe LIVES!!! Posted on 10/05/09, 03:10 pm |

I agree with 1stmayflowers. I don't think it is a good idea to hand out generalised medical advice. Especially advising people to increase or change their insulin dose. People should always check with their doctor before changing anything.
Also, your advice is out of date. Type 1s are fine to eat sugary food in moderation and as long as they know how to adjust their insulin to it. Insulin pumps in particular can allow people to be very precise when changing their dose, and so you can have a flexible lifestyle. Also, it is a bad idea to do more exercise as well as increasing insulin, this will lead to loads of hypos and gaining weight due to having to eat all the time for the hypos and taking extra insulin. I think it is a very bad idea to suggest people ignore their doctor's advice and take insulin regardless of what the doctor says. Doctors study for many years for their medical qualifications and then gain experience from seeing thousands of patients. It is a very bad idea to ignore their advice. There are many different ways of controlling blood sugars, especially in type 2, where there are new drugs coming out all the time. A person's doctor will have their medical history to hand and will be able to tell them, individually, what is best. There are also different insulins, so even if the person does decide to take insulin, they may or may not choose levemir. I realise you mean well and want to help people but I don't think this is a good way of doing so.

I am glad you started this discussion. From the sound of it you may be newly diagnosed and in your zeal want to spread your knowledge or you are stating what your doctor/nurse/educator has taught you in hopes someone will tell you it is all garbage. At least I hope that is what you are doing. I agree with Lizzie in what you are saying could be taken the wrong way. If either of my assumptions are right for your starting this discussion, please talk more with your doctor and spend some time learning about diabetes. The American Diabetes Association and its journal Diabetes Forcast are good sources as well as local sections of a diabetes organization.
I am new to this support site and group. It seeems a good site. I expect that you will get many comments like the ones given by me and the others who commented before. I wish you the best in your journey!
