It came to light that just after i turned 30 years old i had a late on set of type 1 and since have had a battle with it! I take 8 shots a day and have even tried a pump with no luck. My blood sugar runs between 450-600 most of the time and i have been put in the hospital twice with my sugar being over 1000. I check my sugar 8 times a day and i have just hit a point where i feel like this is not working for me. I have talked to doctors about this and it just seems like there solution to this is more shots or more units. I have lost weight and am trying so hard to get this under control but i just like it is doomed. What should i do? I have runn out of idea's. Thanks

Hi and welcome. It does take some used to getting to know your body once you have been diagnosed with diabetes. With me, the 1st year of been diagnosed I was in and out of hospital on numerous occasions.
One suggestion I would try, if you havent already, is speak to your doctors about changing your insulin to one which is more suitable for you. Perhaps you are just on the wrong insulin.

Hi Timothy
I think you should look into education courses. I went on one. It taught me a lot. On my course they taught me to count carbs - do you do this? If not then you should learn how to. Then they taught me how to work out my ratio of insulin units to carbs, so I could dose the insulin correctly. They taught me about correction doses, hypos, exercise and illness. How is your diet? Do you exercise? Could you give us an idea of a typical day - what your sugars are, when you inject and eat and how much food and insulin you have etc. That would help us advise you although as mrkyboi says, talk to your doctor before taking any action.
