" I have a similar issue. I forget to take insulin all the time. I tried alarms on my pump, but who knows when you are going to eat sometimes..... right?
I wish I had the answer for both of us.
I used to be really reluctant to go to support meeting, but I've been trying to be more active in the diabetes world because it's really inspiring for me. That helps a little. But I also need to work it into my, already, busy schedule.
I also have trouble checking my glucose levels regularly. Do you have that issue? "

" I have the same issues especially when I was in high school and starting college. BTW I have had diabetes for 20 years. I wish I could say that it gets easier the longer you've had it but it doesn't. I forget to take the insulin too but once I start getting that massive head ache from high glucose I remember. lol. that's terrible. I guess the most important thing to remember is that testing glucose and giving insuling is important to your health and well being. You dont want to have the complications that can result from not doing all of that. I suppose there is not a really effective way to remember except that it is really important. "

" Yeah it can also lead to a thyroid problem (i have that) and that can make all kinds of organs stop working and make a person gain weight. I am a cosplayer at anime conventions and renissance faires so gaining weight is a really bad thing for business. lol. It was a wake up call for me. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to be healthy. "

" I went through a time like that too. I still occasionally forget insulin, though not like it used to be. I did super good for a while, when I was first diagnosed, then crashed for a good few years. At one point I was doing so badly that my boyfriend (husband now) told me that he'd give me a prize if I kept my BS down below 300 for a week. I wanted that prize and guess what? I did it. I never did get my prize (what a butt...), but it did show me that it wasn't as hard as I was making it out to be. Still, it didn't get me out of the hole. I think what really helped was realizing that I just felt like crud if I got high BS. It's very hard to describe, but I just feel all-over bad. Like syrup in my veins (guess it pretty much is), so I feel slow and heavy. Anyway, between that and wanting to become a mommy, I've gotten tons better. I think the trigger to improve is probably different for everyone. I know that being told--and knowing--about all the horrible things that could/would happen if I didn't get things under control never helped. It seems like it's like telling a blind person the sky is blue. Even though they know they can't really understand the way a sighted person can. And P.S. I have hypothyroidism too. And a few other auto-immune disorders. I was told they tend to go together. Gee, how lucky is that?! ;) "

" I know the experience. It has happened to me a lot recently. I have been diabetic for over 40 years and on the pump for about 6 years. Missing a bolus when eating can get VERY frustrating. I enjoy having a pump for the freedom it gives me. Too much somketimes. I always need to keep in mind that it is important to keep control or diabetes will control me.

The only thing that saves me at times is the routine of checking my blood glucose and knowing my symptoms for high and low blood sugars.

Talk with your doctor or a pump educator. They may have some ideas. The discussions here have also been good. Good luck and don't get too hard on your self. "
