I have extreme pain from neuropathy of the feet. I can hardly walk and when I do, I cannot walk more than 500 feet. My doctor gave me Gabipentin, but it does nothing. I heard that lyrica is good for neuropathy. Has anyone taken it and does it work? Has anyone had any side effects?

I have diabetic neuropathy too (it's why I am up at 4:30am!) I take Gabapentin and find it reasonably effective. What dose did you take? My dr told me that Gabapentin and Lyrica work in the same way, but he prefers Gabapentin. I have heard a lot of people complain about the side-effects of Lyrica.
I take 600mg in the morning, 300 at lunchtime and then 900 at night. I also take Amitriptyline 75mg at night (it raises your pain threshold). If all else fails I take Tramadol. I can walk only a very short distance now and have to use a wheelchair, I have no sensation in my feet other than pain and so it's really easy for me to fall over. I have had this for about 8 years now and am waiting for a referral to a pain clinic. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to! Lyn
