Snacks before exercise?

I seem to have a dilemma since I'm a type 1 diabetic.

I do my exercise and I try to put effort into it, so it actually helps. My dilemma, however, is that I get low blood sugar afterwards--which is problematic because then I'm eating to fix it...

So perhaps my question is, if you exercise, do you ever have a snack a half hour or so before you exercise to give you some energy? If so, what do you have?

" I wouldn't have a snack personally. Instead I would decrease my insulin before the exercise. "

" I actually asked my nutritionist that question and she said to have a snack, I just have a small like a glucerna shake or something that equals 15 g of carb. It also depends on how long your workout is, my went from like 243 to like 40 within an hour "

" I tend to use glocose tabs maybe 10-15g if I'm doing cardio as my bs drops as I workout but if I'm weight training I have a protein snack before (tuna/chicken etc) as my bs rises during the workout and drops 2-3 hours after, the protein snack kicks in as it starts to drop usually (you'll have to work out your timing) "

" I went through the same thing. I do my exercise in the morning. I was told to decrease my breakfast insulin by half. I'm also on the pump, so I shut it off too while I'm exercising. By doing that I do not have any more lows when exercising. "
