My 4 year old daughter passed away on wednesday morning. She was sick and taking amoxicilin. the coroner says that besides being sick that her brain had swelled and that her sugar levels were very high. I am so confused about all of this and they arent sure yet if that even is what it was. i am looking for answers. if anyone can help me figure this out please tell me what you might know. thank you.

First of all let me start by saying how sorry I am for your loss!!! My heart and prayers are with you, I can't image losing a child, I am so sorry, did you daughter have diabetes? A person can die if their sugars are out of control for a long time, was she sick before she passed? Again, my deepest sympathy, how are you coping?

I am so sorry for your loss. Iur daughters sugars were high it's possible she died from DKA or diabetic ketoacidosis,
here is a description i copied from a website. Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a state of inadequate insulin levels resulting in high blood sugar and accumulation of organic acids and ketones in the blood. It is also common in DKA to have severe dehydration and significant alterations of the body’s blood chemistry. DKA is usually seen in people who have type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Most often, these are diabetics younger than 25 years, but the condition may occur in diabetics of any age. Males and females are equally affected. But i am not sure if there were other issues they may have spiked her blood sugar levels. The doctor should be more clear with you. Again i am so sorry for your loss, i will keep u in my prayers.

dka is one of the things that the doctors mentioned at the hospital. however the detective said that it will be weeks before we will have results on blood work and toxicology. The only thing that was wrong prior to this is that she had swollen glands and was taking amoxicilin. She seemed to be sick to her stomach and just not feeling well. Just normal kid sick stuff that i have dealt with dozens of times before. I can't think of anything abnormal about this time. She was drinking she was peeing she was tired no fever. Then she just stopped breathing. The brain swelling is the cause of death however we don't know what caused that.

I know antibiotics can raise blood sugar in diabetics, as far as symptoms of diabetes they are not always just black and white. Symptoms can range from bed wetting, to eating alot and never seeming full, using the restroom alot, drinking alot of fluids, and sleeping all the time.
Again i am so sorry i know the words may not seem like much but i know how i would feel if it were my daughter, u have my deepest sympathies, If you ever need anything just message me.
