I keep gaining weight and I feel bad about it. Does anyone know how to not gain weight or get rid of it without turning my pump off?

" Don;'t turn your pump off, that could cause serious damage to the blood vessels in your eyes, feet or kidneys. As far as I know the answer is the same as for non-diabetics - eat healthily and exercise - only more so. Also, education is so important. You need to be confident about what to do if you hypo while exercising and aware that exercise can create highs as well as lows. It can be so discouraging to find a high after exercise if you aren't expecting it, or to have a hypo and need to eat. I would suggest speaking to a dietitian as well as getting information from your doctor or nurse. "

" I gained 45 pounds last week and my doctor told me that I was insulin resistant meaning it took more insulin(which causes weight gain) to keep me regulated. I was presribed metaformin and added symlim and have lost all the weight as of this point. Love my pump it makes blood sugar easier to control but its not always the 100% answer. "

" Excuse my mis spells etc in my previous comments. It took me more than a week to lose 45 pounds(lol). The metformin never caused me any major problems, I did have slight stomach issue in the beginning but overtime it went away. "

" Those are deignations for the type of insulin you inject. N is the one you use daily. R is the fast-acting one to bring down a high. Lots of times the doctor will give you a scale that tells you when to take the R and how much depending on what your bg is.
