I have type one diabetes and my son is 22 months old. Lately he's been drinking/urinating non-stop. He also seems lethargic most of the time. I'm getting scared for him....

even if they dont test him just test him with ur checker. all u gotta do is prick his finger it only takes like 5 seconds do it like 4 times a day for a couple days and keep a record. then take that to the doctor and see what he says

I would recommend monitoring his sugar and taking him to the doctor. Frequent thirst/urination and extreme tiredness are key signs of hyperglycemia. I had the same symptoms before I was diagnosed.

Definitely get him checked.
Stasia - your comment is strange. What do you mean about sugar? Type 1 diabetics are allowed to have sugar if they want to, as part of a healthy diet. Also your advice could be dangerous - if all diabeticstorm did was not give her son sugar and he was actually type 1 diabetic, he would still be very ill and producing ketones, and would eventually become comatose and die if no action was taken. The important thing is to get him to a doctor asap.

Hey for those wondering about their infants and don't want to have their little one suffer a finger or a toe prick but want to check them out, use ketostixs. You know those strips you pee on to see if you have keytones.
Simply press them in a wet diaper to get a sample. The little ones show keytones much faster then us adults so if you have even trace amounts get them to a doctor quick. Also be careful of the diapers that have chemicals in them to soak up urine better or treat diaper rash etc. as that can skew your results. Not as accurate as a blood test I know but it will tell you what you need to know and you can do it as often as you want and not inflict any pain to ease your mind. Good luck and God bless!
