" i used to cut also. i stopped 2 months ago when i was admitted to the hospital. stopping cutting was one of the hardest things for me to do because everytime you cut it becomes more and more addictive....but you have to keep telling yourself that the urge WILL pass. i promise it will. and the longer you hold off from cutting the less the urges will become and they will come less often. when you feel the urge try and do something to distract yourself i.e. coloring reading writing running..anything you can give all of your focus on. i hope everything goes well for you...and trust me you can do it!:) good luck "

" I agree with, phalanx, the urge is hard, I also stopped cutting a couple of moths ago. It was like a drug adict trying to quit drugs (I'm not a drug adict, not panning on it, never had any type pf drugs!) Back to the subject, the urge will come on and off and sometimes it'll be realy strong and others you can just shake off. But if you feel a string urge then, find something you love to do. What makes me get that thought out of my head is listenng to music. My iPod saved my life plenty of times. I'm hopeful you can find some activity that'll distract you from harming yourself. "

" I used to cut, nothing to serious but I couldn't control myself it was like it was beyond my control, one of my close friends noticed my wrist one day confronted me and we talked about it, I stil cut for a while but it died down a bit, so whenever I feel the urge I distract myself and keep away from anything that I can harm myself with also the days that I haven't cut and my wounds have healed I draw hearts where they used to be to inspire myself not to do it anymore. I really hope this helped. Also talk to people you can trust when you feel like cutting, get them to distract you and give you reasons not to. I am here if you want to talk. Good luck :) "

" I think distraction is the best medicine. I just started cutting though I tried hard not to start. Im trying to stop, but I find this even harder to quit than drugs because its not illegal and can be hidden easily. But its not impossible. I think when a person is desperate to quit they throw away what ever they use to cut themselves. I've seen it happen before.

I suggest drawing, writing, or playing videogames as distraction because they give your hands something to do.

Hope you are well. : ) "
