So I am stepsisters with my best friend. We've been very close for quite a while. I was diagnosed with depression only 6 months ago. I told her what was going on and of course she said she would be there for me.
I am now sitting in my room while she and my friends are sitting in my kitchen talking about how eventful their night was last night. Do honestly my "friends" not even care about me? They've seen how low I've gotten and all they can say is "You've changed". The funny thing is, therapy has been going great and for a while, I had never felt better. But suddenly, apparenly I'm not good enough. It sickens me that these people have the power over me. These "people" are far from friends. Please help me, I am completely lost of what to do. I want to take the high road but I feel sick about it and of course, they will end up being at my house all summer. Posted on 07/03/09, 02:07 pm |

Im sorry that is happening.
Have you tried talking to them? telling them how you feel? I bet if you did that, they would understand. They just don't understand that you need them more than anything, and if you make it clear to them, they might understand. Im always going to be here if you need someone. You can always send me a private message, and i will give you all the advice i know. Cheer up, and realize that there are others out there that care about you, and would be happy to help you. I am one of those people, even though you don't know me and i don't know you. Your going to be okay.

Thank you, I just have such a hard time breaking away from people. Last time this happened I talked to them but now they are doing it again and I'm fed up with it and want nothing to do with them but I wish they could at lease pretend to care. Thank you so much for the reply, that actually did cheer me up/

Treat others the way you want to be treated. If they treat you poorly then talk it over with them, if things don't change then keep them at arms length so that their attitudes don't affect you.
It never feels good when people hurt you. Makes you feel powerless because of the huge affect others actions have on you. You should try thinking positive thoughts. As lame as that sounds it helps. At the same time, people who don't suffer from depression don't exactly understand. Its hard for them to. So if you need people to support you when you're down you're probably safer talking to people on DS. :D
