Ive always had trouble with accepting myself and seeing how hard i work. I am my worst crtitc. I always judge what i do and how i do it, and if im good enough or if im not. Every day i feel this way even though im a top student and i work hard. Its an inezcapable feeling. However, when i am happy is when im not stressed from school, or from friends or life is when im painting or expressing myself. I listen to music, i sing, i throw caution to the wind. However, i know my problem is deeper than that, but i just wanted to knwo something from others who also suffer from sadness. Do you think art therapy actually could help, rather than going to a therapist? Self expression is great, but would it have the same efrfect? I am not sure and do not know what i should do, please tell me what you think

" I took a class on art therapy through st. thomas aquanis college (stac) and art therapy does work. Expressing yourself through art can help a lot more than just talking. however, it helps a lot more if you have an art therapist with you to talk about why you used the colors you used, or what the figures or objects represent and stuff like that. but it is a good thing to do to rid yourself of strong emotion. If you want to know more I am here. (((HUGS))) "

" I had art therapy and I thought it was a great help to me.

Sometimes it just helps to get your feelings out there instead of having them churning around in you. Sometimes it can be hard to verbalise emotions and I find that writing and drawing things gets things a lot clearer in my mind.

To others, it just looks like a pile of junk but it helps me a little bit. I'd say give it a shot but if you get an Art Therapist aswell, you might get even more out of it.

Feel free to message me if you need to talk
