I wanted to introduce myself a little. Forgive my spelling, we have a pretty rough day today. :( My name is Brandy. I have two children, one is 4 and one is twelve. My daughter is 12 and we have been battling some mental health problems for almost a year now. She was diagnosed with depression and borderline personality disorder. She attempted suicide in august and after a couple of days in the ICU until and a little over a week at a pediatric stress center she is back home with me. I feel so alone sometimes, that I started looking for support groups with people who may be able to talk to me. Thats where I found this one. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed at trying to help her, I feel like I'm losing my sanity.

" I am sorry to hear you and yur daughter are going through a rough patch. isshe in therapy? have you thought about getting some counselingto help you deal with it and not get overwhelmed with it all, I find that I get so tired of trying to help my daughter nad find her the right help and puttin up with her moods when sheis not having a good day can be so exhausting,. mentally and physically, it gets to the point that I am so focused on her I cannot focus on anything else and then the rest of my family suffer because of it, but talking to someone can help, and this is a great site to do that, but someone in person also helps, what does your daughter like to do? maybe getting her involved in tings that she is comfortable around and enjoys would help her, my daughter is a big horse lover and she is involved in horse therapy, she loves it and it has been really good for her, I wish you the best of luck and your daughter. " Hi Brandy386! I'm too am sorry to hear about your troubles. My sister is in a very similar situation with my nephew who just turned 13. She is fearful that he will try to hurt himself as well especially since he has been exhibiting signs of depression, moodiness, withdrawl, self-hatred, etc. She started him with counseling and is struggling to find other ways to reach out to him. I think it's always harder when kids are going through much more than what we'd consider "normal" kids are dealing with.

Whatever you do, keep positive. I pray everyday and I try to tell my sister to find a little time to help herself feel better. A hot shower, a time to mediate or read a few chapters of a good book might help. You being healthy and available is going to be the key. After all, how can you help someone else if you can't help yourself first.

Have you tried counseling for yourself too? Maybe finding ways you can spend time with your daughter alone will help as well. Getting them to understand that you are there for them and love and support them is key. There are so many times when we can just get overwhelmed and feel like we want to let go.

Hold on tight and don't give up! Think of all the amazing accomplishments you have already done and remember that you are a good mom that loves her child no matter what! It will be hard and it will be painful but there is always a light. . . "
