" After a Quintuple By-pass i could'nt get comfortable for months, thus I started losing sleep and becoming irritable. I've used alternative meds for the last 35 yrs and never had so much as a headache. Started taking the generic version of Restoril(Temazepam)It's working great for me. No hangover the next morning. I usually fall asleep within 30 minutes and sleep a good 7 hrs or so. In addition to that, the Generic is much less expensive, around $4 for a 30day supply at Wall-Mart.

" Great stuff....I am 57 years old and been an insomniac most of my life, was on Halcyon years ago but they took it off the market...don't know why, cause it was fine and clean....anyway...after years of smoking pot to sleep, I finally got a drug plan and take 30 mg. of Restoril every nite, and no more pot, and fall asleep within an hour or so, with no side affects...it is great....and you still get up if needed to go to the washroom in the nite and back to sleep again and you wake up feeling fine...I even checked out, long term usage, on the internet, and studies have shown, inconclusive evidence, that, the benefits of sleeping, are better, than not being able to sleep, as for me, I did not have a good sleep for years and years.....I was begging my Dr. for something to let me sleep, tho, he threatened me, of being addictive, I told him, I would rather be addicted, than not sleep. I started out with l5mg but not enough, only let me sleep 4 hours, then, 30mg, and still not enough...only slept about six hours,.then 45mg for awhile, and slept for over eitht hours, then lost alot of stress problems, and now back down to 30mg per nite and I sleep approx. 8 hours and hopefully will ween myself down to 15mg per nite, in the future. Restoril is very addictive....so be aware, as I tried, but would be up all nite long, without it....I even lost a bit of weight too, as when you do not sleep you are bored and watdh t.v.and munch...especially when I was smoking the pot to help me get tired and relaxed enought to sleep...but as you know...it is illegal and expensive and probably bad for your lungs, long term....and maybe it should be legalized for people to grow their own for medicinal purposes to sleep or enhance appetite for cancer victoms, as used in hospitals....so good luck and sweet dreams, cause that is what it helps me to do also....have very enjoyable dreams....LOL....!!!! Let me know how it is working out for you too.... "

" Oh yah, also, I just read some more of your comments, and yah the damn Drs. with try you on other drugs, telling you that you are depressed and they are all nasty stuff, been there and tried them, they made me ill, I was not so much depressed ....as I was terribly .....'STRESSED'...!!! They push alot of meds on people sometimes, I think, unnecessarily, you know....big billion dollar business....ah...??? Go Restoril....it is clean and like the fellow said, fairly, inexpensive....also I find if I eat something after taking the pill you fall asleep faster......but usually do not like to eat and then go to sleep but it depends on the time I take it and what time I hope to be awake...hope I was helpful..... " A good friend was on Restoril to help with sleep. It did help her sleep however, she was concerned about side effect of weight gain? I don't know if that is a side effect. I do know that she gained weight and had cravings for foods while she was taking the med, eating a lot at night, etc. For that reason she decided to stop taking it. She did not ask her doc for something in it's place she just said she was going off it cold turkey. Her appetite went back to normal, no cravings, no late night snacking. Her weight went back down. However now she does not sleep well at all and in place of the medication she has started smoking "for her nerves" from not sleeping. Not my personal experience and I don't know if it's helpful but that's what I have to share. "

" I have been on it for years. Is it addictive? I don't know. But if I don't take, I don't crave it, just don't get to sleep very easily. Usually it works within 30 min to a hour. If you have to get up during the night, you wake up, do what you have to do, go back to bed and back to sleep. No residual effect when you wake up.
If you need something to help you sleep, either a very hard days work, and sore muscles that keep you awake, or take the best way: a clean sleeping agent with no ill effects. "
