I think I've realized that a lot of why I get depressed is because I push myself too long and too hard without taking care of myself on very basic levels (light eating regularly, making time for myself). I grew up thinking that if you're not suffering, you're not working hard enough.
Has anyone else felt like this? I ask because I am trying to figure out how to cope with moving myself toward a more "normal" schedule to come out of my depression, but don't even know where to start, because I don't think I've ever had a "normal" life. Very strict parents, so have always been averse to authority (oh and they sent me to Catholic school on top of believing in physical punishment while growing up). Just thoughts would be great. How do you get an overambitious perfectionist depressive to be normal so she won't keep burning out? Posted on 10/29/09, 09:10 pm |

I wonder if this is in the wrong place - I guess being overactive wouldn't be under Depression - Depression is just what happens when I keep up with my "normal pace."
