When I took prozac for clinical depression a few years ago, I went from happy to depressive/bipolar. I went from highs to lows and slept all the time to try to forget about everything. It made me feel so distant and numb. Anyway, I ended up overdosing on almost a full bottle -the rest of what I had, took zoloft, sleeping pills, pain killers, muscle relaxers, you name it. I wasn't even paying attention to what I took. I overdosed on it and ever since I came off I've been able to think again and live my life like I should.

Waking up in an emergency room was my side effect. I'm antiprozac. :\

Hi I take Prozac and in the start it made me stoned and I did not want to eat but now I am doing ok with it.Theres days that I am still sad but theres days that I am doing really good.

just started on prozac and it makes me sleepy ...i am on 40 mg so because of the sleepiness i take it at night

I've been on prozac for a week now. I have to say, it doesn't seem to have done anything apart from make me want to sleep a lot. I have a high resistance to drugs though, so I might not be a good example.

Like any of the AD meds, it takes at least a month or more to reach it full working strength. I, when I tried it, have constant nausea, headaches, problems sleeping...it then leveled out after about 3 months, worked for 3 months and stopped working, but I am ver drug resistent in this area.

Gee, I have been taking it for years, since back in the 80's when it first became popular. I stopped taking it once, believe me, the side effects of depression were alot worse than any side effects prozac could offer.

One thing, I wish it would kill my appetite, hunger supression? not this time. But, I have cut down on smoking lately, from 2 pks a day to 3 packs a week, or less. Didn't want to, just happened. I live with my daughter and she does not allow smoking in the house, after a year, I am to damn lazy to go outside to smoke. Use to, it was, pitch a tent out side so I could chain smoke. haha

Of all the pluses and minuses, I will stay on my prozac as long as I can get it.

Lets see, reduced libido, that's ok, I have other health problems that reduced it anyway, so really couldn't tell you if it was the prozac, or, the aching back, hips, knees, neck, entire body.....divorced and not looking so that is just one less thing to worry about. Yeah Prozac!!!

Anyway, I took 20 mil for years, then 40 and now 60. I was really worried about the last increase; and, I do have that distant feeling. I can't quite explain it, I feel like a robot. That will not do, so booooooo prozac on that issue.

Or, boooo what ever it is making me feel this way. But, afterall, I have multiply health issues, so I don't know what is causing what. I am hoping it will pass when I become use to the new dosage.

Well prozac nearly killed me. I started off taking 1 a day, I got more depressed and then ended up having 4 a day wanting more and more but the depression got worse and worse. I lost a huge amount of weight, I felt I was going mad or getting madder every day, I lost my libido, I became OBSESSED with killing myself. I planned and plotted my and my dogs death. Luckily my friends saw that something was not right and intervened and I blame prozac for my near death. I had no fear I was just going to slice my wrist without a second thought. It was as if I was possessed by a demon who had taken control of my mind and told me to "release" myself to a better plane and not even the hell fires scared me. When I found out on the net that prozac can make you feel worse I flushed them all down the toilet not knowing that I was to ween myself off. Well I have been to hell and back let me tell you. I have caused a huge commotion, I was nearly locked away in a loony bin, I escaped from hospital, burnt my files, I was doing strange things. Now it has been two weeks that I have gone cold turkey, my planned suicide and murder of my dog was about 4 days ago (after I went cold turkey). Now it feels like I am stoned out of my mind all the time and I have short term memory loss. I feel anxious and frightened and I will NEVER put another prozac in my mouth for as long as I live.

Prozac made me absolutely euphoric, which was the problem. It
increased rather than decreased my libidio and I was doing all sorts
of atypical things - driving too fast and carelessly, writing hot checks,
and generally making a fool of myself.

It reminds me of the title of a 1960's movie with Mary Tyler Moore and
(I think) James Garner - "What's So Bad About Feeling So Good?"

I'm sure there are people for whom Prozac works wonders, but 40mg
a day made me hypomanic.

Each bout of depression I`ve had prozac worked really well,but the last bout 20mg, did not work at all, so was put on 40mg,and is working to a point,but with the sexual dysfuntion that comes with it,makes my self-esteem zero,this in turn makes sure the depression stays. My only other side effect is sweating, hope this helps.
