" I was on Prozac briefly in 1990 & in some ways it worked too well. I became very jolly and in fact was briefly (8 days) hospitalized
for hypomania. The bottom line is that Prozac
did not help me, I do not trust psychiatry, and
I feel my hospitalization has ruined my chances for a normal or happy life. "

" I tried it once and it turned me into a suicidal maniac. Citalopram worked well for me last time and I've just started on it again. Is not helping me yet I'm but I've only been on it a few weeks. Prozac is dangerous. It either works or makes you worse, no in between. "

" When i first started, i had trouble sleeping, was tired, achy, drowsy. But, this all settled down in a few weeks, so if you get side effects at first, don't give up on the Prozac straight away. (unless off course, the side effects are of the increasing- bad-thoughts kind, in which case, you need to see the doc as soon as possible).
Anyways, i now have no bad side-effects, and am pleased with using them. Good luck, I know i'm one of the lucky ones in terms of how Prozac affects me. :) "

" I have just started taking prozac and so far the only thing I've noticed is feeling more fatigued and wanting to sleep/nap all the time.
I know that can be a side effect but I'm also taking muscle relaxors and anti-inflamatories for shoulder problems and they tend to make me sleepy too so it might not even be the prozac that's making me tired.
I know I haven't been using it long but I do think it's mellowed me out a bit, had a couple of pretty stressful days and woke up this morning to find my three new born kittens dead and one of my older cats had died over night too and normally this would have had me crying all day long and very depressed but I seem to be handling it pretty well for now. "

" Well, I would have to say that the muscle relaxants appear to have worked as a tranquilizer. As a cat person myself, I know
I would have been devastated by the loss of
one cat, let alone what happened to you.
I am not given to "letting it all hang out", but
I imagine I would have been extremely stressed out. "

" Prozac made me sleepy and itchy mainly on my scalp. After two years it stopped helping my depression. "

" suicidal thoughts/behaviour can start soon after taking SSRIs, esp in young ppl. sexual dysfunction is a side effect that may affect compliance.

the full list of common side effects:
nausea, agitation, insomnia, drowsiness, tremor, dry mouth, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, sweating, weakness, anxiety, weight gain or loss, sexual dysfunction, rhinitis, myalgia and rash. obviously it varies from each individual... "
