well think about it this way if you can, if the world is gonna end in 14 months do you want to spend that time depressed? I say we eat what we want, laugh too much, and have sex like porn stars, then if the world doesn't end we pick a new date and kepp going :) hang in there kid!

I am on strict diet, watching my weight, keeping every penny for my retirement, and if the world is going end soon, then what's the point in torturing myself?

Don't dwell on things like that... If we think bad things are going to happen, sometimes we can create those bad events ourselves...

Think about it this way. If the Mayan Calender didn't end in 2012 then when would it? They became no more before they had a chance to build on that calender. Who's to say that had their race continued they wouldn't have continued to build on that calender, adding a further thousand years or so? But considering the time they died out, or 'disappeared', I think they had more pressing concerns than thinking beyond this date that just so HAPPENS to be close as hand. Because this date was so far away from when the calender was made. Why on earth would they WANT to add further.
It's easy to site the end of the world, but think of the calender as a work in progress that never got finished due to their people being wiped out. The 'prophecy' wasn't really a prophecy anyway. It was a scientific system based on fractal time that few understand or use today. The belief that this was the 'end' was a misguided one, because it signified the end of one chapter of humanity before opening up a new one, more spiritual. So even if what it portrayed in the upcoming movie happens, the physical form is just one end and a person's faith should guide them through to the next phase. So only people without faith could actually have cause for concern because they will have nothing to guide them through should the time come. Not even religious faith. Faith in something more after death is what I meant. Religious, spiritual, whatever. It was never meant to be a Doomsday prophecy, but a glorious new chapter beyond that date. Had the Mayans lasted out whose to say that calender wouldn't have been modified later on? Fearing the worst may actually MEAN the worst for those fearing it. Keep your mind open and look forward to whatever happens happening (if anything happens at all) then you'd be more prepared for the change that being afraid. It's not something to fear at all, even if totally accurate. Quite the opposite.

Yea, the Mayans vanished some 700 years ago. For their calendar to last as long as it has is amazing!
As for predictions of the end of the world, yea those come all the time. Back in the year 999 they thought that the year 1000 would be the end of time. There was a major alignment of the planets back in 1983, and people predicted the end of the world back then. And there was some prediction that the world would end on 5/5/2000. So how about this, to everybody who claims the world will end on December 21, 2012 (12-21-12), I offer to loan you $1,000 on November 1st. (Until funds run out) but you must repay me $10,000 on January 1, 2013.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, according to the Jewish calender we are in the year 5770, therefore 2012 was a heck of a long time ago.
I think it is a lot of hype, they even have a new movie coming out, someone is making money on this.

I've heard that before and I think someone said that it is incorrect. The human race has gone through a lot of terrible times in history and alot of people claimed that the world was coming to an end. I think if it does happen that it will be in the far distance future when we are all dead and gone. But life is short and we should make the most out of it because you don't know what lies ahead. Try to think positively and think about the good things you have now.
