H there, does anyone here make a profit selling on Ebay? The prospects of me finding a job are minimal so I'm looking down other avenues now. Many thanks

" I know my mom buys a lot of things off ebay. She only buys the "buy now" things tho...If it's bid only, it intimidates her. Hope that info helps.

" Thanks Friend19, I don't think I'll be putting anything up for bid personally. "

" I do think people make profit on Ebay. You have to know what to sell and be aware of the pitfalls.

Before selling, check the item you want to sell by searching for completed listings. It will give you an idea of how demanded the item was (number of bids) as well as how much it sold for.

There are also many tools you can use to get good deals on Ebay (in case you want to buy cheap stuff and re-sell it) and to improve your selling success. Check Ebay tutorials for sellers.

Pitfalls: ebay fees, tons of Chinese sellers selling stuff very cheap.

Hope this helps! "

" I've a load of books I'd like to get rid of initially but otherwise I'm going to have to think of something I could make and sell. My Mum used to do cross-stitch so perhaps that's an idea. "

" I know someone who makes Island jewelry from sea shells and she makes a little money from her own website. I think that selling books might get you a little money. Give it a try. "

" eBay can be tricky, especially since you are saddled with multiple fees (shipping, final value, and PayPal). It really cuts into your margins being charged twice by the same company. Also, if you sell the same item -- even at opportune times, there's no guarantee that you'll make close to the same amount each time. I received a vastly different price for the same item sold I consecutive days (one way higher than I anticipated and another lower which is strange since this item didn't decrease in value elsewhere).
