I desperately need someone to talk to. I have never tried this before but I figure it is worth a shot. Lately these feelings of hopelessness and helplessness have taken over me. All I ever want to do is be alone and I cant seem to come to grips with anything in my life. It feels like the world is happening around me and I'm not quite a part of any of it. My days come and go in a fog. Sometimes I notice myself having extreme highs followed by mind numbing lows. I don't even know who to talk to because the words never really come out like I intend or don't even truly describe this awful feeling I have inside. I want so badly to feel like my old self again and everyday I see that becoming less and less of a reality...

Welcome to DS! Lots of us here have experienced what you describe. I'm glad you've got a therapist, I know that helped me a lot. If it's hard for you to know what to say to your therapist you could practice by writing out more on here then take to it your therapist to read. Hang in there things can get better!

Things will get better so hang on & keep talking to your therapist - what I have found helpful is keeping a journal of my thoughts & feelings as they occur, then you can talk to the therapist about them. I never think I have anything to say & somehow an hour goes by & I haven't stopped talking! Are you on meds?

Hopefully your therapist can recommend a doctor? it sounds like you may have some symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as maybe becoming a bit manic? But I am not a doctor, so I would go see someone. You did the right thing by seeking help. The rest of it takes time. I have found that reaching out to others on here has helped me a lot. And keeping a journal on here has helped too - I can see my progress....but it takes time. That's what I have to keep reminding myself. In the meantime, hopefully you can ask your therapist for help with developing coping skills when you feel this way.
Feel better.
