Ok so, I haven't written in here in a while but the depression is quite literally at a point that I'm losing my mind. Got laid off in March and there ain't nothing out there. Thank God I'm cleaning house. The whole economy thing seems to be draining what little life I actually had left in this body. Is it hitting others hard (or is that just a stupid question0> And I guess a better question might be, how are you coping? Cause I've about had enough and I'm QUITE serious.

" I'm fortunate that my job is not being effected by the economy. It was a few months back when I got cut from 44 hours a week to 36.That may not seem like a lot but when you are use to that income it makes a difference. We were able to stay afloat with budget cuts at home(cable internet. Even at the lower hours we did nto qualify for ANY assistance, but now that my hours have been reinstated, due to other peoples stupidity, life is back on track.
I know it is hard to find work, but try looking into jobs you think you may not qualify for or a bit of a change of direction. I had worked healthcare my whole life as a CNA then an EMT and I could not find ANYTHING here, but I got on as a Security Officer. I knew nothing about the field but they took and chance and I showed them that I was worth that chance and have been with my company for a year and a half now.
Good Luck to you! Maybe think outside the box and see what happens. I know its not great advice, but maybe worth a try. "

" Rule number one: (Mine) There's no such thing as a stupid question.
And no, you're not the only one. I've been out of work in part because of depression since 2006. I have a minor pention, and SSDI, but I want to work again, be productive again. And all people see is disability, and all I hear is CAN'T. (The dirtiest word in my vocabulary.) "

" I'm in the same boat. My job ended in February and I have stopped looking for another one. I"m so depressed it's pointless...actually I also damaged my left knee which used to be my good one. Now I have two bad knees and I'm on my third sleepless night, so I'm not entirely sure that anything I write makes any sense. For some reason my left hip hurts like a bitch too and they are driving me insane. I have no medical insurance so I can't get anything for it and nothing over the counter touches the pain. I'm a huge whiner....but if I could get some sleep I know I'd feel less like whining. Your question is not stupid...these are tough times and if I didn't have my boyfriend I'm scared to think of where I'd be. Homeless comes to mind...... "

" Quite seriously enough! For the past two years my work was cut & unemployment checks don't pay the bills. A few nights ago I was given the news that by years end 30 more of us will be laid off and to go look for another job. Now I'm close to forclosure on a house I've been paying on for 20 years. My car broke down the same day VW Credit called to say they were going to repo it, and the list goes on and on. My question is, where is all this help that everyone is reporting on tv? All I get is the run around. "

" cutting back, cutting back, cutting back.

No car to pay for or maintain,
I pay rent, power, and phone/internet, and that's it.

I buy food that has to be cooked, and lasts much longer through the month. No cell phone.

my expenses are very low, thank goodness. "
