FUCK ALL OF YOU EMPLOYERS WHO ARE LAYING OFF OR FIRING YOUR WORKERS WHEN IT IS NOT REALLY NECESSARY, IE, THE WORK IS STILL THERE BUT YOU ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE "RECESSION" TO CUT EXPENSES & FORCING YOUR EXISTING STAFF TO PICK UP THE SLACK (UNPAID OF COURSE) & TREMBLE IN FEAR AT THE POSSIBILITY OF LOSING THEIR JOBS.
This is to advise you all of the "Me too" that is going on around this country. It is a catch-phrase for the above. I know a competent lawyer (16 yrs.), female, mother of 3 who was fired for no good reason (lies). They could have laid her off so that she could at least collect unemployment - the State pays that, not them.........but NO, that would have raised the statistics of UNEMPLOYED lawyers..........BAD FOR BUSINESS. I met a very nice older woman - a maid at a large chain hotel for over 10 years, got FIRED - they said she spoke to the clients inappropriately.......she did not & is fighting with unemployment to try & get something. The hotel could have simply laid her off. People NEED jobs. People need to feed, clothe & house their families. They need medical, dental & retirement benefits. I am sorry if this is depressing for all of you but I guess I want those of you that do have jobs to be very, very careful until things get back to the way they were before. your preaching to the choir on this one.
the ceo's continue to earn more despite layoffs, and jobs continue to move where labor is cheaper. the trend for some years now. politicians and corporate america scratch each others backs, while the adjusted income is lower than many yrs ago. i cant see this begin to change until there is a change in the system. and i cant see that happening anytime soon.

I no longer believe in "the way they were before". It is going to have to be something better than that. Better than souless corporate amorality. Maybe workers united, although that has never worked. One form of unacceptable tyranny in exchange for another. Government is not the answer; it is the problem. We seem to have lost the ability or the desire to do anything for ourselves as a people. Jazz, this is a good post; a place to start the dialogue that has to take place. The lawyers, politicians, and corporations are not doing it. The People, Maybe? One more time? We the People?

hi jazz...good post!
let me just say that the recession is destroying lives up here in canada as well. my province, british columbia, now lists it's number one export as BC bud. i shit you not. because the lumber is gone (the processing is done down in mexico, for a couple cents an hour.) now an entire industry is left fucked over.real people, with real families. thanks NAFTA. the fish are going, going....almost gone. sold. with the jobs that go with it. and the lives. i mean, fuck, we still have the conservatives (republicans) running shit up here. goddam america junior. and in the same hole. so people, hug your loved-ones, count your blessings, because NOTHING is sacred or safe anymore.

umm... you might ask the guys you voted into office that one. of course youd just get double talk.
pple complain now, after 8 yrs of dumb dubya, and yet a sizeable group actually voted for that half-wit....twice. yet during this recession million plus dollar yacht sales have not taken a nose dive. what i see happening to the baby boomers that dont retire wealthy, is some will leave this country, go to some stable 3rd world like country where they can actually afford to live at a middle class level, instead of at the poor level in the states. sad but i bet some will feel no other choices. how long has this been going on, shipping jobs overseas, or to mexico? it didnt just start yesterday. pple didnt seem to care a few yrs ago, well if they still had theirs, they didnt. until there gets to be an almost emergency type situation, i cant see pple getting together in a well organized large group and trying to force changes in washington. yeah nafta has been some benefit...yeah right.

We as a people may end up taking down our rulers once again. I don't know if they even listen any more. Corporations are the constituency now. We the people have become an inconvenience. If we do not help each other, there will be no help. My truth, the evidence of my own senses. I have often been wrong. I hope I am.

america isnt going to strike...
were to large to form a mob. i say we fire everyone in the IRS and just not pay taxes until we get better coverage. 1st, congress cant give themselves raises of medical benefits anymore. 2nd, documentation of voters messages to reps and sens. we have thousands of websites like myspace and dailystrength... why cant government sites have forums so the people, can talk with, other people?! thats about it. :D
