Depression Over Job Change?

View More Posts Ignore
Ok, so I finally quit my job after years of being stressed out and started a new job only a month ago. I used to exercise regularly after work, now I come home an hour later in the evening and I don't want to move, I'm so tired. The past couple of weeks I constantly feel like I'm coming down with something - weak, worn out, run-down. Went to the doctor, took blood tests, everything came back normal. I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, I'm crying all the time, I just came back from vacation and I wish I didn't have to go back to work on Monday. I don't miss the old job or the stress, but I can't figure out why the new job isn't making me happy, because it isn't that bad. Now I'm thinking it's depression and I'm tempted to go back to the doctor to ask for Lexapro, which I took years ago during perimenopause (it worked but made me gain weight). Right now I'm at a loss........

" hello laura-

sounds like you might be depressed. changing a job is a very stressful, while it might not be as stressful as your last job, starting a new job is a big change nonetheless. Make an appointment with your doc and discuss your options. Maybe you could start the medication again, just to get your past that hump and then you could get off of them again. Exercise is good as well, hard to do when you don't feel like it, but gets the endorphins going.

hang in there, it will get better, hugs "

" Maybe it's the change of things that's causing some anxiety. Maybe the business of the last job was keeping you from thinking about your depression or whatever makes you cry.

Just ideas,
Winter "

" Thanks for your comments. Maybe it's the change from being on top of my game at the old job, to being the "new girl" who is still learning that's throwing me off. I never expected this physical reaction, though. I had been looking for another job for months, and got my wish. You'd think I'd be relieved. "

" when I started at the employer I'm working for now (been there 3 yrs last month), it took me 6-9 months to adjust. like you, I was on top of my game, everyone knew me at the old job and then you go back to the bottom not knowing a soul. YES! I'd say that is very stressful my dear! Give it some time, it will get better. "
