" "I read up on it but that didn't help."

why did it not help? Where did you read up on it? Try this (it explains it pretty well):

" I also want to say you very well may NOT have it. I am not sure we should call your therapist's statement a DIAGNOSIS. I say this because REAL tests for Asperger's has not been done with you. You may show some signs of it, but from what you have told us, you have NOT been formally tested for it.

Read PROCEDURE at the following link:

" From what I understand, it is an Autism Spectrum Disorder. My girlfriends 2 boys have it. They are both extremely intelligent, successful boys/men who had varying degrees of social issues when younger. Chances are good her husband has it. I'm pretty sure Bill Gates has it. :P One of her children had alot of social difficulty controlling his anger and understanding cause and effect/consequences. He also fixated on certain things (space, baseball teams, etc) and memorized every known fact about them and could recite them at will. Her other son was a quiet, lovey-dovey kid that would focus his attention so tightly he would forget to get up and use the bathroom when he was really young. Both kids are great kids, they just have some differences from thr mainstream. "

" I would assume displays of anger would be from frustration rather than a sign/symptom of the disorder itself. Just my opinion. "

" Many people with Autism spectrum disorders Have difficultly being empathetic with others you have displayed empathy here. That does not mean you don't have these disorders but it makes me question you new therapist diagnosis. How much time have you spent with this person? the autism spectrum covers a large variety of socialization difficulties. I know in the past you have said you have difficulty making friends. Many with these types of problems have a very difficult time reading non-verbal cues that we all give. Facial expressions and a multitude of body language movements that people without these problems read and adjust their own behavior appropriately. And these problems are on a sliding scale you may be able to read joy and deep sadness but unable to see disappointment or distaste. There are ways to learn how to get better at these things and increase your ability to read people. Many with Aspergers have outbursts of inappropriate language and many have physical ticks or uncontrolled twitches. Did you ask your therapist what symptoms he/she felt indicated this problem? Remember there is no such thing as normal or not normal just norms of behavior that have been quantified and are changing as more and more are afflicted with social difficulties. I personally believe the cause is environmental. Chemicals in our diets and pollution in our homes from cleaners etc. Even in the clothes we buy. DO NOT place any blame on yourself this is an illness not an indictment! Remember you are loved. "

" My nephew has been diagnosed with it too. I don't know much about it really. But I will tell you after he started taking medicine for it, his outbursts didn't happen anymore, and he's in college now. Even when his younger brother (sorry but he is) who is a shit, gets on his nerves now, he is really good about blowing it off. Its been an amazing change.
So, for as little as I know about it, there IS hope. "
