" I have been in treatment since I was 6 years old and I am now 53, I think that there are times that we are in remission but to really be cured. I don't think that is every really going to happen. There is also the gene that we carry. Meddication is not for the cure but for the treatment of symtoms. We all have our sane moments. "

" Good point grandee.

I think some people are lifers (me for example) but I also think that most people can make a full recovery or at least have much fewer and far between depressive episodes if they work hard at recovery. "

" Your right Uhm, as a lifer myself I know it takes hard work . There is always new things we can learn on how to cope , and one has to keep looking for them . It is almost like a job , but when we see new tools we should keep an open mind try them , and if they work pass them out for others to learn also. "

" I've been dealing with this for longer than I can remember; I've never taken (prescribed) meds for my depression, and am not sure they'd really help at this point. It's been work, and slipping and sliding, but eventually I've come to a point where I can manage it simply because I learned to let things go and live life on life's terms.

I still have my days (today is one I need to go and do and I'm dreading it and there's no reason) but if I have to I MAKE myself get out and go and do.

Do I think this can be cured? No. I think it's like alcoholism...there's no "cure" really...just ways to manage and keep it from overwhelming. But that lies with the individual. "
