i want to go and can't get the motivation to get prepared.. i live in the historical district of the town i live. these people in this neighborhood go all out on holidays, especially the 4th... they are starting a parade at 5pm and then a street party with a band. then a big cookout.... the part of putting my babies in a little wagon and taking them in the parade appeals to me the most... the street is being blocked off for the dance.. guess where it starts???? right in front of my house.. from 5pm to 9pm i will not even be able to get out of my driveway..... think i will run out to petsmart and get some little red white and blue collars for the babies. my friend has a little wagon for her granddaughter. they are in mississippi this week and i could call her and i know she would let me go get the wagon..... i really want to do this... just need a little push here.....

I hope you went. If there was a celebration going on around here that I didn't have to drive to (and thus get stuck in endless traffic for), I would go. I bet it was fun too :-)

did't make it for the parade. i tried... two dogs pulling me on a leash and pushing a stroller with my oldest one was a bit to much to venture very far.. we went and i sat on a cement border in front of a house and parked the babies there with me... i put a red white and blue bandana on bailey and the girls wore their little caps with the ears hanging out. baily has a john deere tractor one, but he will not have any part of it!!! several kids came up and petted them.. bailey was scared and growled a bit and after a while i came on home. scared to death he might bite a child. don't think he would but i made him sit on my side while the children were there. can't take a chance of that... we didn't stay long but it was fun to get out... may go back a while and listen to some music and leave them all in the house...

we used to have street parties in england
when I was a child they were fun Iike celebrating when princess Dianna got married to prince charles we don't celebrate events as a nation anymore its a shame because it builds an integrated community
