My god! I swear, I got a tooth pulled, ate some vicodin, and felt happy for the first time in YEARS. Now I know why they are addicting. However, does anyone know what makes them work and why we can't get prescribed a med similar to it? Depression is deadly and debilitating. I would take one every day if it weren't the side effects and the come down.

Pain pills need to be take to treat pain, not depression. Pain pills can be a life saver for someone with chronic and severe pain, it helps improve their quality of life. But they come with a price, especially if one is not carefully monitored by the drs. They can be hard on the liver and cause gi problems like severe constipation and other issues. Pain meds can also change your brain chemistry and worsen your depression and other mental disorders.
To use them just to feel high is no different then becoming an alcoholic to get that buzz and drink your troubles away.

I prefer adderall. (A form of speed). I could get it too...all I have to do is convince a doc I have ADD or ADHD.
The angel on my shoulder repeatedly talks me out of doing that though....probably she knows it would eventually kill me.
