Getting my arse to the gym...

So I KNOW that exercising is supposed to be good for me. I've lost some weight and gotten healthier and I always feel really good after I go. But I got in the habit of going to the fitness center of the apartment complex that my father-in-law lives at in SC where I was all alone for the most part and could spend a couple of hours there with no one else around, and now that I'm home I'm dreading going back to my gym. The thing is, I've always liked my gym. It's not like I'm going to be judged or criticized or I'm going to have to wait for equipment (well I might on some, it is New Year's Resolution time) it's just the thought of going. I have NO motivation and quite a bit of anxiety. Why? What can I do to motivate? I usually use tanning as my carrot but even the thought of 7 minutes in a nice warm bed just isn't helping. Any thoughts?

" Suffering a traumatic event (break-ups, divorce, death, etc) can motivate a spontaneous "get fit" state of mind. Worked for me. Besides. I want to be a superfox! "

" But thank you lol. I did go out and buy smaller clothes because I needed to. I'm gonna try for the next size in March. And Rainer, the catastrophic event was getting laid off... I needed to keep moving or all the weight I lost working was going to come back and I was going to be a slug. Slugs gross me out. And thank you MissBart, I think I'll work out my legs too lol "

" I enjoy working out. Of the perk of working out daily is maintaining my weight. Or losing weight when I have too. But thats all long term. I like how it effects my mental health. So thats what motivates me every day. I know that when I'm done, I FEEL GREAT!.....no matter how crappy everything else is. And NO ONE can take that away from me.

Great tunes on your ipod helps too!!! Now get going!!!!!! "

" So, I'm in a bad spot to be giving ANY advice on this, because I've been little miss excuse... the latest of which is that my sneakers are in Maine while I'm in Boston.

BUT, I have two main things that can get me to the gym (1) I only need to go for 20 minutes, that's it and (2) if I feel like crap, going to the gym almost ALWAYS helps me to feel better and I have NEVER walked out feeling worse. All that other stuff is too long-term to get me motivated. "
