I hate me...

Well, Christmas and New Year were pretty good for me... Had my best friend over from UK. It involved way too much drink (been drunk 9 out of 10 last days), and far too much food. I'm dreading her going back on Wednesday though. I will be back to feeling as though I have nothing, and will be back on my own again constantly.
Recently everyone I know has been asking 'have you put on weight' or 'you've got fatter over xmas'. I just feel so ugly, so gross... I dont even know why I am writing this, I just have no one to talk to.
I know I have life better than so many, and I feel so guilty for complaining, just right now, I am realy, really depressed.

" I feel useless, like crying, like I have nothing to live for, as though I have no uses, as though I wil never find anyone, as though everything will only get progressively worse, and as though i really do not have too long left before i just give uo entirely "

" Those that are asking you if you gained weight...just seem cruel hon. I would rather gain weight than be one of those people. I am happy that you had a friend over to your home. Alot of times we seclude ourselves or just dont feel up to having company. You have been entertaining for awhile now and enjoying the time you have had with your friend. We all feel shit sometimes. I know myself...I know I have gained weight. The thing is..I have to push through those feelings and push through the fact that I would rather sit in my pjs than try on a pair of my pants right now. It will get better honey. I promise. "

" The most important thing is how you feel about yourself. If you feel you put on weight then maybe your new year's resolution should be to lose weight. Maybe a makeover. You are not alone. "

" Yes I agree with pixi...Telling someone they look like they have gained weight is cruel...Almost like they want to make you feel bad...

You should not hate your self...Concentrate on looking after number one...When are you going to see your friend again?...May be you could plan her next visit...Or your visit to see her...That will give you something to look forward to...

" OK here is my reply to this since u r not answering ur fone, we dont have to talk about it face to face if you dont want to or feel embarrassed cos u know that i would completely understand, but here we go:
1. The only reason u feel like u have no-one to talk to is because you dont open up to anyone, i have been with u everyday nearly for the past two weeks and u have never mentioned feeling this way once. U know that even when i go home i am always here for u to talk to, thats why i am ur best friend, and always will be for as long as u can put up with me.
2. As far as putting on weight is concerned, i think we both know that i have also put on weight (lol) during the xmas period, but u will soon be back to rugby training and will feel so much better for it, not only because its excersice but also cause u can hang out with other people who are fatter than u eg spring and others lol (na na i joke)
3. PLEASE dont say things like u feel like u dont have long left, dont u realise how many people care about u and would love to be there for u if only they knew how u felt? The main reason i joined this website was just to get an insight into how depression worked, but mate seriously we all have down days where we feel ugly and useless, what u need 2 do is surround urself with people or keep urself busy, its the only way to stop urself thinking too much and getting urself down in the dumps.
4. Not sure what to write for number 4 except that you are one of the most lovely, caring, considerate, funny (well not as funny as me) people i have ever met, you have been such a good friend to me and we have a great laugh, but please dont think that we cant talk about stuff like this too, cos as embarrassed as u feel talking about it i would really rather that SO much more than u bottling these feelings up and then getting to this stage. Look how many people have been here to support u already, (talkin about those comments below) so many people care about u andy, me being one of them.
Love ya mate

" everyone you know says those things to you?

seems you need a better class of friends...I mean I can understand a BEST friend saying it TACTFULLY, but damn....

This sounds like a good time to take back control of your health and habits...you can lose the few extra punds you may have gained within a couple of weeks, I bet. Don;t be so hard on yourself!

" After I read this, I instantly went to your profile... I had to know if you were male or female. Because, as a woman, even if I have put on weight, no one ever says anything (or shouldn't, anyway!!). But, for some reason, people think it's alright to tell a guy if he's put on some pounds. Don't know why, I never comment on anyone's weight (dare they comment back!), but it seems to be something that people comment on for men. That stinks, and is enough to make you feel low. And, if you have put on weight, it just doesn't feel good to carry that around with you either.

I'm feeling alone lately, too. It doesn't take much, and even though I have at least a half-dozen people I can think of who absolutely love me and care about me, they're all in other cities and towns and I want a physical hug so badly. Get all the hugs from your friend as you can before Wednesday! I hope that you feel better soon.

XOXO, Laura "
