" normal response. Must have some advantage, .. not sure what. Very primal emotion. Serves some deep and complex emotional need. Perfectly normal.
Excessive crying is not "bad" in of itself, but emotional problems that result in excessive crying needs to be addressed. The act of crying is quite normal. "

" Crying makes my pain worse, definitely. People will tell me, well you must feel better after a good cry? Not me. I feel worse. I crying is a symptom. I can't see it as a treatment. I want to cry less "

" Crying actually releases endorphins -- under the right circumstances.

A good cry is therapeutic if you cut yourself loose from all the cultural baggage attached to it. However, notwithstanding, I still hate to cry and I do feel weak when I succumb to it. I also realize that this is due to my upbringing and maybe one day I will be able to move past this. "

" When I first experienced depression I used to cry everday, more than once often. Ever since I've been on antidepressants I find it a lot harder to cry!! It's definitely a release though when I do now, instead of painful and unstoppable like it was before...so yeah, it's different things to different people, but I'd never call it pathetic! "
