I know part of this is motivation and strength but i thought maybe i needed a stronger and deeper kind of therepy...is that what Psychotherapy is?
Or is it just another word for what I am doing now????
any help would be great...I feel like i need to be hypnotised bc I am so stuck in my ways and cant change....

" I think your therapist is using some psychotherapy...but i don't know. I do know that psychotherapy is counseling and it works on talking. Any help? "

" Psychotherapy is basically talk therapy. Psychotherapy sometimes incorporates teaching relaxation techniques, breathing excersises. I guess I look at psychotherapy as learning to calm the mind so that you can work on the body as well (like stopping panic attacks). Talk therapy is, what you said, talking and looking at your life, putting words to feelings. Both can be pretty great, and most psychologists incorporate a little of both in their work. "

" Talking out your problems and having the therapist suggest different ways of looking at your problems is called cognitive therapy. There is also music therapy, horticultual therapy, yoga, movement therapy, art therapy - I think they are all psychotherapy because they are aimed at healing your psych. Ask your therapist what method the two of you are using. I've never heard of hypnotisim, (except for that story about a woman with five multiple personalities - Sarah? Can't think of name) as being used for therapy. I wonder if that's possible? They use it to help people stop smoking. I would love to be hypnotised to stop eating so much! "
