The doctors tell you when the back surgery is over you'll recover and be able to do everything you used to do. What they don't tell you is that shit follows you for the rest of your life, it's like you're just a shadow to your condition.

Well heres the short version of my story. I had a huge spinal surgery when I was sixteen. I am now 21 and just got a job at the local grocery store. I did not tell them that I am limited(technically I am not). Well after working there for now 7 days, someone told one of the managers(I unfortunately live in a small town) that I shouldn't be lifting too much. Now I have two people mad at me, and Im sure it'll get worse within the next few days. I am just floored. I don't know who the hell thinks they have tte right to poke around in my business. Needless to say I left crying my eyes out and I can't even talk to my husband because I don't want to cry anymore.

Thnx for listening.

" Sara could you maybe get a note from your doctor stating no limitations for your employer if none? Try to break things down to small steps of what your game plan should be. Maybe someone else will come up with more ideas. I wish you the best and will pray for a solution. "

" Sara, I know where you are coming from. I have had three spinal surgeries. Some employers are understanding, and some are not. I do'nt think your back surgery is really what is the issue here. You are young, and out in the work place, probably for the first time. People can be so mean, and nasty. Crying is good for the soul, however, there comes a time that you have to pull up your big girl pants, and do what you have to do. Just do the best job you can. What does not kills us, makes us strong. These employees are only making themselves look bad. Do not react to them. Be pleasant, however, if you feel you are being verbally abused, then you need to speak up for yourself, and tell your boss was is going on.Good luck, kiddo, things are not always going to be like this.i promise. Write me whenever you want to. I am here to help.Take Care! "

" Honey, if you are able to lift, go to your boss and tell him that yes, you had surgery but are well enough to pull you on weight. Don't let the nay sayers get you down. Show them what you can do. "

" Hiya Sara, long time no speak!

I can hardly BELIEVE you are 21 and married! (((((big hugs)))))

Wow the time flies!

I would definitely have a chat with your boss, and let him or her know that you are fine to work,-- and he/she should not listen to others regarding your job, or whether you can do it.

Hang in there. xx -daisy "

" If after 7 days you have been able to do the job without any problems, you have already done a lot to prove to management there that you will be a good employee.

Personally, I would not approach my boss to explain your side of what that other busy body said. The more you downplay what was said, the less of an issue it should be.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. "

" Yes it has been awhile Daisy!!

I think when the recruiter gets back from her vacation I am going to talk to her(as she is upper management and I've known her for years) about the issue. I feel a lot better today, and I am just going to work like I've been doing for years. Everyone else can deal with it;) "

" You have every right to feel that anger towards that person. She absolutely had no right to butt into your affairs and I hope you will get the chance to tell her exactly that. Maybe it might be a good idea to sit down with your boss and tell him YOUR story before this other person does anymore damage. It sounds like you are a good hard worker and I'm sure the boss doesn't want to lose you so get your side out as soon as possible before that idiot causes you anymore grief! "
