Insanity at large in Pizza Express

I got a place on my return to nursing course! Hurrah! Mike and I went out to celebrate at Pizza Express and a really horrible thing happened. I had my glasses on top of my head, and as there are lots of little pillars and walls the only place to look, apart from Mike, was the stained glass door behind a table where four people were sitting. I know one of the people by sight; she's an incredibly miserable woman who lives near me, and when I see her I smile and say hello but she just scowls back.

We're just about to have desert when the older sister of the group comes over and says "Is everything alright? It's just that my mother thinks you're staring at her and it's making her paranoid."

What the hell? Who would come over to a complete stranger and say something like that? I instantly burst into tears, as it's been a bit of a week, and Mike and I asked for the bill and got up to leave. I went over to their table and explained that I had been looking at the windows and the mother said, "Oh, it's just a silly misunderstanding." but by then my evening was ruined. Over something weird, but insignificant. I so wish I was tougher, and that things like this didn't matter to me.

" You didn't have to end your vent if you weren't ready! I can be the same way Juice, I am very sensitive and I'm reminded of it all the time. Before I say anything else, I am so very happy for you! Congrats, that is such good news :-)

" I seriously need to try and find a way to let things like this wash over me. It's ridiculous, and on reflection this morning I know I could have handled it better. I do think it was because of an accumulation of all the smaller things this week, but now I have new hope in my life and this morning signals the start of a new stage in my life.

Not sure I understand what Grey Ghost meant, but I'm not going to worry about it all day like I usually would. I'm going to dig out my meditation CD and my book on Mindfulness and really start some serious work on why I take everything so personally.

" Things like this remind me of why I stay in my house and not mess the crazy "normal" people at large. You should of told her no, there is nothing to look at. But, I am sorry you were hurt and it ruined your night. You get so little happiness that to have it destroyed by some people really pisses me off.

Cudo"s on the return to school. I know you will do great.

I can't see far away either, I am sure people think I am looking at them when I can't even see them. lol They had to see your glasses were on top of your head!

Now that I think about it you should have told her daughter you saw her mother pick her nose and was in utter dismay about it. lol "
