Hi Jim Jim...my doc changed me from 75mg to 150 mg EffXr also, about a month ago. At first I felt a rush, kind of like a burst of energy or happiness, but it faded quickly and I felt like my mood bottomed out. I dont know. She wants me to stick with the 150mg for two months just to be sure, this is my second month. I dont get that burst anymore but my mood seems even...sometimes I get really down but I think its just circumstances that meds cant help. Hopefully it works out for you! Im hoping the same. Sandy

Has anyone experiencing yawning when on Effexor XR?

Yes, the Effexor XR is working really good for me as well. But this yawning... everyone at work thinks I am out partying till late hours at night!! It does get the ladies in the office wondering about my night life....lol Thanks for the response! :)

I was going to list the possible side effects of Effexor out of my drug book for you, but there is a whole freakin' bunch of them, so you'll have to read them of of the leaflet you should get with your pills, or go to webmd, they have that info there, too. But if you run accross any terminology you want me to look up, I have a med dict. too.
ANYWAY - My drug book also says that drowsiness and/or diziness is possible when you first start using it (implying that problem should go away over time) It also says to dispense in small amounts because of suicide potential, especially at the beginning of therapy. Did your doctor warn you of that?? I took prozac once, and was not told about that possibility - so got really scared when I felt very intensely suicidal after I started taking it. That can happen, but Drs. don't want to scare you away from taking the meds, so don't always tell you everything. So be sure to find out all of it if you want to know exactly what you're in for.

I'm on 300mg and also take remeron with it. its called california fuel. It works better than any antidepressant I've ever been on. Its more of a stimulating antidepressant at 225mg

definitely need to keep that paper you get w/ your medicine! (Used to wk in a pharmacy) Whenever you up a dose or start a new medicine, read everything on that paper! Especially the side effects. And keep the paper so you can go back to it if you need to. Also, you can call the pharmacy and talk w/ the pharmacist. They will be able to tell you about the side effects and answer questions for you!

I know higher doses of Effexor were actually not good for me... made me sleepy in the day... and even after doing simple things like hanging out the washing I would be sleepy. Also not able to think and suicidal. Not to mention really moody.

starfish - I know I was never warned about the suicidal thing. I just saw a doctor thinking I might have depression and he just handed me the drugs.. not even recommending counselling to go with them and told me they would everything better. He didn't even warn me I would get worse for two weeks first.

cymbalta is suppose to be like effexor according to my dr. I took cymbalta and my headaches went away but then i got real numb feeling like not sad or happy. but it had been increased to 60 mgs then they put me on lexapro 10mgs which i hate. So i took myself off it and put myself back on the cymbalta 30 mgs will see my dr again next week. But I had to give it a try. Anyway i just heard cymbalta was like effexor and yes it made me feel really weird at first and I think i didnt give it long enough. I also read which my dr never told me things could get worse before getting better. ugggggg always something ant it.
