I'm so tired of feeling so down, of crying, of feeling and being isolated, so withdrawn from the world, alone. I try but the depression is like a weight holding me down. I'm just feeling like I'm drowning in this everyday and it gets worse everday. I want and need to feel better for my kids sake for my sake. Visions of ways to end this and be at peace cross my mind constantly. If it wasn't for the pain I know it would cause my sons I would I would.........if anyone has been here and can tell me how to get better please respond. I know it's not gonna happen overnight but any little thing that might help me feel better now would really help.

Are you on medication? If not, pursue that. Few can manage depression without it. If you are, describe to your doctor how you feel and suggest some kind of medication adjustment.

You need to do not just try. Get out of the house with those two sons and go to an apple orchard maybe or make pumpkins for them to color. There is no magic. it is a disease that requires management sometimes with professional help. have you gone for professional help> You have been her a couple of times and we have recommended that path to you before. i suggest you seek out professional help.

I am pursuing meds but my appointment is not for a couple weeks, I need someway to cope until then. I went to therapy a couple days ago she can't prescribe meds so I have to wait for my psychiatry appointment. I tried her suggestions and they didn't work

cope, until you can get on effective medication. with that benefit, then your efforts will be more viable. hang on until then. once on meds, it may take a few weeks to feel any difference. first try may not work. in any case, few can make much progress without effective medication. you are going the right direction .. you simply have to take one step at a time and give it the time it needs to be effectively treated.

Unfortunately the worst part of depression is that by the time you realize you really need treatment, you are really in the thick of things. Waiting for that appointment is a nightmare. I realized I needed help on a Saturday night over a holiday weekend. I was suicidal and suffering major depression. I didn't want to go to the ER because I was afraid they would lock me up alone, and that it would ruin my life having a history of being admitted for mental illness.
First, you need to find someplace/something that is safe. I know that when you are depressed, NOTHING makes you feel OK, but some things (at least for me) do make me feel better than others. If you have a significant other that is understanding, don't hide your feelings from them. Let them know how bad you truly feel, and ask for their help. Have them call the family physician's office right away and tell them you are feeling suicidal. If your physician doesn't make it a priority to get you in asap, ask for them to recommend someone else that will. Most likely they will prescribe whatever anti-depressant they are comfortable with, and may also give you something a bit stronger to help you cope until you can get a psychiatrist appointment. When you are this depressed, it is hard to determine how to make it until tomorrow, let alone two weeks. I know the feeling. Just take things hour by hour, or minute by minute if you have to. Don't think too far ahead and cause more anxiety (what is more depressing than false visions of a bleak future?). If you are really in pain, let someone you trust know about it, and let them help you. In fact, ask them to be responsible for helping you even when you don't want it. Knowing you have someone to keep you safe can make a big difference.

Most doctors will make an exception if it is an emergency. Did you let your doctor know how bad it is? If he/she can't see you right away they should recommend someone who can - or like someone suggested, the ER. I had to wait a weekend for anxiety meds recently and it was so painful.
Good luck.

mauszer said it up well. i also know that feeling very well, infact ive felt much the same way as you do. you might find something like bachs rescue remedy makes you less anxious. ive used passion flower for anxiety and its helped to some degree. everyone is different and what works for one may not help another. you might try yoga, or meditation as a means of trying to calm your thoughts. ive found meditation type music can also help. you can find that on 365live internet radio.
http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/dir... i would say since you are feeling so bad, contact the doc again and say you feel to bad to wait that long. they do make room for pple having extreme difficulties. hope you feel better, i know how intense it can get. best wishes.
