Fluoxetine versus Prozac

Was wondering if anyone had tried both of these tablets? I know they are supposed to be the same thing but have had Prozac before with great results and Fluoxetine last time and this time but the depression was more of a struggle to overcome last time with Fluoxetine and I've been taking it this time for 4 weeks and whilst it's doing something ( calmed me down, not crying as much and not near as many crazy thoughts ), I still don't feel great. Doc has changed me on to Prozac itself today to see if it makes a difference but just wondered if anyone had tried both and noticed a difference or is it all in my head?

Sorry woody!! I thought you were one of those yanks lol!!
In al seriousness, I know some people get em off the internet. If they're from a reputable pharmacist you're right, they'll be fine. Anyway, like you say, who cares lol! As long at they work!!!

I know from personal experience that not all generics work the same or as good as the brand name. The componets may be the same, but how they are made is different and that can make a difference to some people. I found this out because when I was in high school I was switched to the generic and was not told, because my parents assumed it would not make a difference. But, it was like night and day within days and that is when the doctor told us about how generics are made differently, but with the same ingrediants, etc.

Thats ok Juice! I didn't realise what you meant!
Thanks also butterfly. It's reassuring to hear someone else noticed a difference with a generic. I'm trying so hard to be positive you know and being new to using a forum I thought everyone was being a bit negative. It's only day 4 of the new tablets and this morning my husband commented on how easy I've gone to sleep for the past 2 nights and got up in the morning. I haven't had a normal sleep pattern since christmas. My brain definately feels happier.. I've had a lovely weekend with lots of smiling despite still being stuck in the house. I have to take my daughter to the dentist today and normally that would be stressing me out but I'm not bothered about going out. It's a nice feeling. I stayed on the generic when I had bad PND after my son was born and in a year and a half I never felt right so this is really promising. on the generic I felt like they kept me calm but I always felt a bit flat, like I couldn't muster up enough genuine happiness in happy situations, also I couldn't cry. even when my Grandad died, not a tear. It was a strange feeling. With the brand I feel like I have no choice but to feel happy. I feel like it's possible to get my life back on track.
