" ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory so i dont think its will be useful for reducing a temperature. The best thing for fever is simple paracetamol. its a pain killer but also an antipyrexic so reduces fever. Plenty of fluids and a fan! "

" there is not much that you can do for the flu. If you have a fever try motrin or tylenol. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids so you dont get dehydrated. "

" paracetamol is the british version of Tylenol, aceteminephen, which is probably a better fever reducer than ibuprofen, Advil is ibuprofen.

Be VERY careful with either of these, do NOT take more than the recommended dose on the bottle, and do NOT drink alcohol with either, as this could damage your liver. "

" Jesse... I'm a nurse, we give Ibuprofen 800mg to our patients all the time to reduce fever. The sweating is your body trying to fight the hyperthermia (fever) Can you see a doc for a possible prescription for Ramantidine? It will help fight off the flu. "
