Is Effexor making me a zombie?
I am so tired all the time...well, not really tired even. I mean, I don't feel tired, but I feel like a walking numb person. I stopped doing activities I used to enjoy. I sleep like 11 hrs per night, I can't get up. I have stopped crying, but I also barley do anything now. I refuse to go out on the weekends? Is this from the med or just symptoms of my depression? I can't tell?

" I feel the same for two months now even though they raised my dosage to 150 I was hoping to get some relief for the depression with it maybe it's not long enough, maybe I need a higher dosage. They had me on two mood stabilizers and I've been depressed two years almost. Anyway I go to the doc and the therapist on Monday (weather permitting) and fingers crossed I will get tweaked and let you know what happens "

" HHow did you feel before you took the meds? Is it different from now? sometimes it's hard to tell, but if you don't feel much relief there's no point in taking it. Your crying stopped, but it's still not letting you function due to the drowsiness and all those things it causes. Maybe you can try another med. "

" i was on effexor xr for about 6 months, maybe more...and it greatly helped me. i never experienced any thing like that, but everyone's body is different. it may also be the dosage you are taking. my suggestion would be to talk to your dr about it and see if he/she can find some way to tell if it is the medication or not. "

" Thanks everyone for the replies! I am taking 150mg daily...I used to be so active even though I was severly depressed. I think the med is working b/c I havn't really had an emotional breakdown lately, and I used to frequently...I have tried Paxil, and Zoloft, with no positive effects. In your experience has a specialized psychiatrist been more helpful than your MD? "

" maybe... I wasn't on it very long, couldn't deal with the side effects. Maybe the dose is not right for you... its all trial and error as they really don't know how much is just right for each person. That is why it is so important to communicate with your doctors. "
