we do have some members with dementia but they don't post very often, most of us are caregivers.

I am just entering into it....it is pretty scarey. I was just hoping to find someone else embarking on this dark path.
I have a few good years, I hope, before that person who is me is gone... just hoping to connect. thx

Right now...well I am upset....but getting use to the "label".
It was totally scarey to lose a .....not even a memory... I totally forgot I was on a medication. Not forget to refill...not forget to take. But a devasting feeling when my son(30) asked me for a muscle relaxer and I was completely blank. Sheesh I have been on them for years. It's like a blank hole....... was going to a meeting I have been to a dozen times and I just blanked....couldn't remember how to get there. I realize it is progressive and I live 40 yards from my son.... so all is good at this point. Thx for the vent. It is scarey...yup very

Why ty so much, I appreciate that.
I am 57 and on Social Security already....I knew I had some cognitive impairment at least 6 yrs ago but I have other conditions so I just went along. According to a screening tool I took yesterday online...most of my issues are age- related. Simple stuff that friends my age also experience. However I have experienced some incidents that firmly put me in the mild dementia catagory. Both my Mom and GMom had dementia. Go to the doctor would be the next step logically. She is located some distance away and I have only driven there twice. I already do'nt drive at night or on the freeway. bottom line is I have to work up the courage I suppose.... Of course I worry about driving....will I know when to stop completely? will it be in time before I hurt someone (me)... But to give up my driving.....*shakes head thinking Thx for having me I will keep you posted....hopefully it is slow progressing. It is not a pleasant thing to face....but what illness is I suppose. I don't/won't be a burden to my kids though.

well, a good reason to go to your doctor as as possible is because the aricpet and others work better in the early stages.

I'm also new here. I'm a caregiver to my husband and finding this group to share thoughts and vent with is a godsend.
Mindlight, I agree with Deborah48 - you need to see a doctor for an evaluation. Namenda and Aricept have helped my husband remain at a normal functioning level for the past 2 years, and I believe it's because he started taking these medications soon after the disease was diagnosed. You need to be proactive with this.....but I know how frightened you must feel. I share the same concerns you do only for my husband and our future.
